Mayjo offers you the peace of mind that you need in order to ensure a stress-free holiday.  Our vehicles all have fully comprehensive insurance included with an excess for a normal car as low as €400.00.  The option to waive off the excess and provide even further protection is also provided.

Mayjo are also able to deliver or collect the car rental of your choice at your accommodation or Mgarr Ferry Terminal.  For rentals of at least four days, this option is provided free of charge.  Alternatively, a complimentary service is also provided where one of our drivers can also pick you up from anywhere in Gozo and bring you to our office in Victoria to collect the car and do all necessary paperwork.

Mayjo offers 24-hour car rental as well.  Should you visit Gozo for one day only as a day trip from Malta, we are able to collect you from the Mgarr Ferry Terminal in Gozo in the morning and on your return, the car can be dropped off also at Mgarr Ferry Terminal.  The price for car rental from one to three days will depend on the date/season you will need the car.

While it is possible to travel in Gozo by public transport, most visitors find hiring a car to be the most convenient option. Using the bus may involve long waiting times and/or having to change buses. Additionally, many locations on the island, including beaches, are easiest accessed by car.

Gozo is a small island, and with a rental car it doesn’t take long to get anywhere. However, public transport may take considerably longer, depending on where one needs to get to. Because of the topography of the island with its many hills, many first-time visitors find that it takes them longer to walk places than they had originally thought. 

All that is required is a valid driver’s licence and a credit card.  Mayjo also accepts debit card with sufficient funds.

The cost of renting a car with Mayjo would depend on the season (high or low), and on duration of a rental. Longer rentals would have the lowest daily price. Check car hire rates and availability.

Mayjo car hire accepts debit cards as long as valid and with sufficient funds.  Unlike many other companies, we do not block large amounts on the bank card provided.  The amount of pre-authorisation taken varies according to the vehicle and rental duration, however it is typically considered a very reasonable amount. 

Compared to mainland Malta, Gozo is more laid-back and have a lot less traffic.  The main roads are easy to navigate and most beaches are easily accessible by car.  Driving is on the left side on the road and road signs are easy to read.  It is generally recommended to go for smaller cars as some roads are narrow.
